Postcards: Reader Assisted

I worked larger than I normally do, but I hope to eventually find a reasonably priced printer of postcards without buying 500 at a time.  First I need a good scan and all the blue taken away.

Still can't believe the support for Bone Zone.  You weirdos.

Postcards: Whoops

Did you know I've scanned over one thousand items?  Did you also know that passing one thousand resets the way my scanning program numbers it's files?  No?  Then we both learned something.

My files are a bit of a mess; until I get it all sorted out, here are three of my latest postcards.  Each of these fulfilled a postcard debt.  There might be process photos of these later, but there also might not.

Barista Powers: Old School pt.21

I haven't been working on the comic for a while now, but I still fire off the occasional sketch at work, just like the old days.  This week I'll share my work doodles; don't expect much of a narrative.

Today: How I take news.

Barista Powers: Old school pt.19

I haven't been working on the comic for a while now, but I still fire off the occasional sketch at work, just like the old days.  This week I'll share my work doodles; don't expect much of a narrative.

Today: I was trying to get the skull to tilt forward in a forlorn manner.  Didn't quit pull it off.  I threw my scarf and Nirvana shirt on there because that's what I was wearing while I was working.

Barista Powers: Old School pt.18

I haven't been working on the comic for a while now, but I still fire off the occasional sketch at work, just like the old days.  This week I'll share my work doodles; don't expect much of a narrative.

Today: I was trying to draw a shrug, but realized that wouldn't make the sleeves go straight out like that.  As is often the case, the text is my reaction to what I have drawn.

Today: I'm not happy with anything but the Hawaiian shirt.  And the questions raised.

Today: Carley accused me of ruining magic, and that seemed like a sweater vest kind of skeleton thing to do.  Maren inexplicably also wanted bubbles to be ruined.

Today: Trying to figure out different poses, to "eh" success.

The Paper Warren: Offerings

I was challenged (encouraged?) to make a collage that was not for a postcard or collage tennis.  I documented here my first attempt.

I know it was unusual to include those shots, but honestly just about every artist has been confronted with an empty table or blank canvas and been intimidated.  The whole thousand miles single step thing.  First steps for me include cleaning a work surface and choosing the size of the piece.

Then I dump out collage materials, choose the items I am most likely to use, and then put everything else back.  The narrowed down pile still includes images that will not be used, and I may dive back into my bag o' paper once I have a clearer direction.

This god on a penny might be useful.  This picture and the next six show how I continuously add and take away elements to see how I feel about it all.

At this point I have fairly good idea of which images I will use, but I am still chopping them up and repositioning them to get my favorite fit.

To see the final image, check out Paper WarrenOfferings is my first piece not part of a collaboration.
