Barista Powers: Old School pt.16
I haven't been working on the comic for a while now, but I still fire off the occasional sketch at work, just like the old days. This week I'll share my work doodles; don't expect much of a narrative.
Today: Carley accused me of ruining magic, and that seemed like a sweater vest kind of skeleton thing to do. Maren inexplicably also wanted bubbles to be ruined.

Barista Powers: A Bit Of Art
My hearing is not great, and it leads to some... creative guesses. I drew this at the last Barista Team Meeting.
Can you guess what I thought I heard?
Maybe that's what Doug said, and maybe that's what he was picturing when he said it, but my guess is no.
I also drew this, but just because I miss Maren's constant barrage of ideas.

Rerun: The Chip Dimension
Hello! I made three postcards this weekend, and filled out a purchased card. Despite this productivity, I do not have a post ready. I try not to post cards before I am confident they have been delivered to their intended recipient. I also do not have any process pictures for these cards; the three I made were all collage and came together pretty quickly.
I am sending someone this Wisconsin card though.
Here is an oldie but a goodie so you are not left with nothing.

Postcards: Maren's Last Supper
Before she left us for Texas... an idea I still have some feels about... Maren asked me to draw a Barista Powers Last Supper for her.
It was in my Field Notes; it must worked on. I began with researching the Last Supper and doing some sketches.
And from there onto the actual postcard:
After getting this far, I started scanning my progress, convinced I would ruin the card at some stage.
From left to right: Benish, Maureen, Sarah, Melanie, Pam, Maren, Rob, Burbol, Geoff, Ben, Doug.
And there you have it.

The Oatmeal Returns
Occam's razor (also written as Ockham's razor, and lex parsimoniae in Latin, which means law of parsimony) is a problem-solving principle attributed to William of Ockham (c. 1287–1347), who was an English Franciscan friar and scholastic philosopher and theologian. The principle can be interpreted as stating Among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected.

Hanlon's razor is an aphorism expressed in various ways including "Don't assume bad intentions over neglect and misunderstanding", "Never assume malice when stupidity will suffice", and "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by carelessness". It recommends a way of eliminating unlikely explanations for a phenomenon (aphilosophical razor).
As an eponymous law, it may have been named after a Robert J. Hanlon. There are also earlier sayings that convey the same idea dating back at least as far as Goethe in 1774.

Maren's razor is a problem-solving principle most easily expressed as "assume the first thing that comes to mind; sloths probably are or should be involved."

Spice Magic
As is the case with most Maren-centric comics, this really happened. Well, maybe not that last panel. That last panel should have happened. How can you make a movie called Spice World and not mean Arrakis? Tomfoolery. And to be honest, there were a few pro-Spice Girls customers present. There was already a lot going on, okay?
